What to Wear for Recruitment and How to Stand Out
College has officially begun! Welcome to a new chapter in your life, and speaking of chapters...if you're reading this I bet you're curious about what the heck you should wear for Recruitment. You also might just want some inspiration to get you motivated for the crazy week that awaits. Each day is different, so it calls for different styles and levels of casual or formal. It is extremely important that you feel comfortable in whatever you are wearing and you feel most confident in how you look. Sororities are wanting to know who you are, not the show you are putting on. So, I have some suggestions that you can take from and do what you want with, but remember this is a time to really get to know yourself and your style.
Day 1/2: Panhellenic The first and second day of recruitment you will be given a tshirt that you are required to wear. This allows for you to dress casually and wear comfortable shoes for running around. Certainly, there is still a way to stand out amongst the crowd, even with matching shirts. I recommend finding a pair of shorts that are a different style/color, or finding a nice pair of linen or cotton bottoms. Definitely wear comfortable shoes these days for the sake of your feet!
Day 3/4: Philanthropy
These are a very important two days because each sorority has already met you and now it is time to impress. Let's be real, the first thing the girls see is what you are wearing. These days you want to bump your style up a notch to a cute summer dress or nice jumpsuit or romper. You might have to sacrifice the comfort of your feet for wedges, but you can always bring sandals along with you. These days are vital to slimming down your choices for chapters so make sure you impress the ones you love!
Day 5: House Tours
Now we enter a day where the chapters want you to join their sorority and you want to be apart of theirs. It is the most vital time to stand out amongst the other potential new members. I suggest wearing a dress or jumpsuit that has something unique to it or is colorful enough to be spotted easily. It is a good way for the recruiters to remember who you are. And of course wear nicer shoes to match the outfit. You won't be running as much this day.
Day 6: Preference
Finally, you made it to the last day. Yep, you guessed it! Time to get fancy as hell! This is a hard day for some, as you need to decide which sorority you will be joining for the rest of your life. So, get your nicest dress/romper/jumpsuit, curl your hair, throw on those high wedges and show off your confidence as you try to swoon your favorite chapter.
Day 7: Bids
Just like the first two days, on bid day you will get another shirt to wear, so go back to a nice pair of denim shorts and comfy shoes. You will now be told which sorority you belong to and a million pictures will be taken. So, maybe do your hair and makeup, but there is no need to dress fancy for this day.I hope you found this helpful as you begin a super fun, emotional, and exciting week where you meet new friends and find your lifelong sisters. Good luck!
