Where College and Fashion Meet

Whether you are years, months, or weeks away from college, we are all thinking about next steps. I have always grown up planning my future, and just like that, here I am taking my first steps to something I have been thinking about for so long. It is a time of fear, pride, and sadness as we move forward, but It is important that we find excitement throughout it all. Of course, I have done a fair share of shopping already and know I will have to fill my closet with plenty of college gear over time. During busy days of planning and preparing for my next four years at Washington State University, I have put together some fun styles with new gear that I couldn’t help but share. From shirts I’ve found at the local Walmart in Pullman to the ones I grabbed from Amazon, I threw together a few outfits and DIY’s to be creative and stylish in a sea of people wearing the same colors!

Here’s what I’ve put together so far and please get inspired to be brave enough to cut, sew, or alter some clothes in order to stand out amongst the crowd!

This is one of my favorite college gear pieces I’ve made, and with the help of my talented mother, we whipped this up in only 10 minutes! First, I found a cheap shirt at Walmart during a visit to the school and found an old jean jacket from my closet. Next, I cut out the shirt to the size of the back of the jacket and stitched it on. Easy as that!

I dug for this top in the schools clothing store because I wanted to buy something that wasn’t a classic. I took my time looking through every rack to see all of my options before deciding on this lettuce cut top. Patience is key when looking to find a rare clothing item.

Don’t forget about those accessories that can add all kinds of spirit to your outfit, such as earrings, socks, and hats. You can find them super inexpensive in the most unusual places like kohls.com, walmart.com, target.com and of course, Amazon.

We all want to show school spirit at games, walking around campus, or just because, so get a little creative with the same old gear and add a little style to your sense of pride!
