Some must-have coats this winter
So, the groundhog has spoken and we officially have 6 more weeks of winter which really means more time for winter outfits! I love dressing for cold weather and snow, it makes for the best and comfiest clothes. Maybe it’s the layers or coziness of throwing on your most nostalgic hoodie and laying down to watch a movie, but I can never pass up a good winter fit.
Coats are constantly popular in the cold, but this year I have noticed some brighter colors rather than the neutral greys and blacks of the season. I always love throwing a coat over a dress, work clothes, or even sweats, it just completes the outfit. The ones I have gathered over recent months have been at random and mostly due to incredible seasonal sales but they’re worth the buy as they pair with almost anything!
My favorite one is of course personal and comes with a great story! I thrifted this in downtown Pullman (my college town) on a cloudy and boring day when I knew shopping would lift my spirits. I saw this coat and absolutely fell in love with it! The owner of the store began to tell me how it was an original coat from the 70s she found and cleaned up. I mean this was an actual vintage jackpot. I tried it on and everyone convinced me to just get it. I was working two jobs and definitely needed a good self-spoil.
Now to the ones you can go purchase if you desire….
My most worn one has been this houndstooth Nordstrom find which was a big hit during the holidays. I mostly style this one with my matching black sweatsuit from H&M and AirForce 1’s (which need severe cleaning).
This hot pink coat will be in style for the rest of the season as I’ve seen loads of bright colored coats take over my instagram feed lately! I like dressing this one up with a pair of jeans and a nice work top. The coat does most of the work for the outfit so keep it simple underneath.
And last but certainly not least is this beautiful find from Old Navy...yes, I said Old Navy. My mom and I cure our boredom and bad digestion with walks around malls after dinner and we randomly came across this gorgeous plain black coat one night for only $20! I am very proud of that purchase, and I wore it with my travel hat which will someday hopefully see Paris.
I highly recommend wearing more coats in the winter because it makes you look like a boss and your confidence skyrockets. Always strut your stuff...but add a snazzy coat... it makes all the difference.
